The terrifying moment a plane struggled to land in killer Storm Ali, which battered parts of the UK yesterday, was caught on video.
The Ryanair plane is seen trying to land but couldn’t as gusts of 102mph hit the British isles. The plane had to abort a landing when gale-force winds knocked it off course as it came in to land.
The pilot was filmed attempting to land the 9.50am plane from Brussels to Dublin airport but made the last-minute decision to continue flying. Passenger Kirsten Jongberg said it was the worst flight of her life.
There was much screaming and crying from the passengers, but pilots guided us in safely on the second attempt.
Ms Jongberg added that when the jet finally managed to land “the plane continued to rock like a boat in a high storm.”
Storm Ali killed two people. One of them is Swiss tourist Elvira Ferraii who was killed after her caravan was blown into the sea. Tens of thousands more have been left without power amid warnings of heavy rain and wind again today.
Forecasters have warned that heavy rain and strong winds are set to once again batter parts of the UK today. The Met Office has warned of a “chance” of injuries and danger to life as high winds threaten to blow tiles from roofs and fell trees.
